what are the costs of cpc traing over the five year period,
does the employer pay for it and if working through an aggency
does the driver pay for it,
also if i only get a lgv job after sept 09 and have no cpc would i be uneployable until i'd have to fork out one
thanks.

Sorry i am late in replyig but i have been on holiday.

To answer yours questions.

The company i work for J Coates will be charging £85.00 for a 7hour course delivered in most places in the uk this will inclued the upload of the data onto the national data base which is worth £8.75

Who's paying good question but easy to answer the drivers cpc is a drivers legal requirement if they are in scope of the drivers cpc in my personally expeience most operators will pay and want to invest in their staff , but they don't have to but again most have said to me that they will.if you are an agency driver i would like to guess that the agency won't be paying for this and it will be down to the driver to shell out.

if you c1 (7.5) cat c (class 2) C+E (Class 1) before sept 10th 2009 you will have what is called aquired rights also known as grandrights so the clock starts for you on that day to get 35 hour of training in with an approved training company most drivers should look to spread the time and cost over the 5 years doing 7 hours each year 7x5 being 35hours or put another way one day per year.
If you don't have any of the above licences then at the moment you will need to do 2 test theory and pratical after 10th sept 2009 you will have to do 4 tests to gain yors lgv licence then 35hours of periodic training

Hope this all helps
wishing you every success
