Southampton, where short and medium wheelbase Ford Transits are built, is also home to Quick Electrical Services, run by father and son Dave and Matthew Quick.  When their Volkswagen van needed replacing, they headed for Hendy Ford for a new Transit 260 SWB Trend with 2.2 TDCi 115PS engine.

“We needed something newer, bigger and better, and looked at every option before settling on the Transit,” says Dave. “It’s a fine vehicle and Hendy offered the best package.

“The Ford Transit gives me a lot more space for the tools of my trade and has all the mod cons in the cab, which I’m enjoying getting used to.  The Ford Transit's also locally made – supporting businesses from your own area makes sense, and hopefully that will rub off on my trade too.”

Dave Quick opted for a Ford Transit Trend, featuring power operated and heated mirrors, Bluetooth phone connectivity with voice control and cruise control.

Hendy Ford sales manager David Graham said:  “Dave Quick is one of a number of business people trading up to new Ford vans under the scrappage scheme, which has been a boost for us.”

More than 1,100 Ford commercial vehicles – Fiesta Vans, Transit Connects, Rangers and Transits – have been sold under the scrappage scheme.  The scheme continues for a limited period following its extension last month.

Scrappage incentives enable owners of pre-March 2002 vans up to 3.5 tonnes to trade in for a £2,000 new vehicle allowance.  Drivers of cars registered pre-March 2000 are entitled to the same incentive.
