The website – www.heavygoodvehicle.com – has realtime traffic information for the strategic road network, weather forecasts, how to avoid bridge strikes and driving tips for severe weather. The site is in English, German, French and Polish.

Drivers using the site will be introduced to a new animated character, known as 'The Stick' who is based on the cult TV and fiction character The Saint BBC Radio 2 travel presenter Sally Boazman launched the website at the Moto motorway service area on the M2 in Kent on November 2nd.

Boazman said: "It's brilliant that drivers can now check conditions on everything from weather to congestion in one place before they set off. I know that LGV drivers will find this an invaluable service."
