Study Of Hauliers' Ability to Recover Fuel Price Increases
Many carriers undertaking long distance haulage on a contractual basis can recover the additional fuel costs, fully or in part, from their clients. It is not known, however, how common it is for hauliers to be compensated for fuel price increases and how this is actually achieved in practice.
The Logistics Research Centre at Heriot-Watt University is undertaking a survey of hauliers engaged in long distance transport on a contract basis to examine current practices and experience. A short online questionnaire has been constructed which takes only a few minutes to complete and can be filled in anonymously. We are encouraging as many hauliers as possible to respond to this questionnaire to give us a representative picture of current practices in the recovery of fuel price increases.
The results of the research will be published in September 2005. Details of the study and access to the questionnaire can be found at the LRC Web site: http://www.sml.hw.ac.uk/logistics/survey
