King to spend night at Her Majesty's pleasure!

Document Actions
RHA Chief Executive, Roger King is to spend the night of Thursday, 10 March behind bars! Non-payment of library fines? No! Being less than charitable to one of the Nation's sturdy band of traffic wardens? No!

Roger, will be spending the night at the new prison in Peterborough in the company of MP's, businessmen and senior police officers to promote the Crimestoppers 0800 555 111 number.

Inmate-in-waiting Roger King said: "It is a fact that one of the greatest deterrents to those with crime information is the fear of reprisal. Truck crime represents a massive cost and a major threat to the UK road haulage industry. Every year, over 3000 HGVs and their loads go missing and many of these are never recovered. This new Crimestoppers initiative means that those who have witnessed or have accurate knowledge of a crime being committed will be able to contact the police with vital information in the sure knowledge that there will be no come-back.

"It may sound a little odd to say that I am delighted to be taking part in this event and if I were honest, I can think of better ways to spend a Thursday night. However, I am indebted to Renault Trucks, MAN ERF, Volvo Truck and Bus, Daf, Iveco, Daimler Chrysler and the RHA Board of Directors for their extremely generous support in raising the £2000 needed for my incarceration! I am also a little concerned at just how easily and speedily the money was raised!"
