Masternaut helps Trafford track highway maintenance and street cleansing vehicles

Document Actions
Trafford Council has selected an innovative web-based satellite tracking service from Masternaut Three X for its new fleet of highway maintenance and street cleansing vehicles.
The fleet will be supplied by TransLinc, the UK's leading provider of fleet management and passenger services to public sector clients, as a turnkey contract hire, maintenance and fleet services package for the Council.

TansLinc will supply 130 vehicles all equipped with Masternaut’s telematics solution enabling Trafford Council to gain access to real-time information for each vehicle.

“Masternaut will provide a wide range of benefits and a wealth of information to help us improve health and safety and our overall performance.. Specifically our expectation is that the service will improve security and safety for our drivers especially those who work out of normal hours. We expect driving styles and fuel consumption to improve as we will be able to monitor each driver and vehicle closely. With the real-time information the service provides we will be able to optimise the routing of vehicles, provide a much faster response particularly for emergencies and boost our productivity levels. In all we expect to heighten our customer service levels, both with the public and our internal customers,” says Jamie Irving, Highway Maintenance Manager, Trafford Council.

“We are very pleased to be working together with Trafford Council to accommodate its decision to implement Masternaut,” says Rob Hobson, Regional Sales Manager, TransLinc. “The tracking service will provide an ideal information tool for the authority.”

Looking at some of the specific benefits that the tracking service will provide, Jamie Irving says: “TansLinc will supply the Council with Masternaut equipped gritters, gulley cleaners, street sweepers and street lighting vehicles. Not only will we be able to track each vehicle but we will also be able to monitor and obtain management reports for each job. For instance, we will know the exactly how much grit is being spread by the gritters, the exact moment that a street sweeper engages its brushes and when lighting vehicles are activating their booms. The service will make our operations completely transparent and allow us to provide accurate feedback on queries arising from our customers.”
