Impartial Tests Confirm Fuel Cost Savings Using GSPK Multifuel Technology System

Document Actions
GSPK Multifuel Technology, one of the UK's leading specialists in LPG/diesel dual fuel technology, today announces independent scientific confirmation of the fuel cost savings observed by its customers.

GSPK Multifuel Technology's customers typically save 15% on their fuel bills, a figure that has been confirmed in the real world on major fleets of up to 70 artics which have had the system installed for two to three years. Now that figure has been backed up by extensive testing at one of the country's most advanced test facilities.

Speaking about the results, David Abbott, GSPK Multifuel Technology's MD, said, “This is excellent news. There is no doubt that the system works and saves hauliers significant money, and now we have impartial data to support what we measure on real fleets”.

The most recent tests were carried out at mi Technology in Leyland on their rolling road chassis dynamometer, under the supervision of their expert team. A MAN 6x2 with the GSPK Dual Fuel System fitted underwent a series of tests which simulate the typical operating conditions for a haulier transporting goods on motorways and A-roads.

“The tests demonstrate how simple the system is. Mi Technology measured the flows of diesel and LPG at each combination of rpm and engine load, and showed that the system replaces an expensive fuel with a cheaper one,” said David Abbott.

“Vehicles with our system fitted save anywhere between 10% and 20% of their fuel bills, averaging out to 15% across a fleet. We have now tested a 2000-plate MAN 6x2 and measured 12% fuel cost savings, and a 2004-plate Scania 4x2 (fitted from new) which measured 14.5%.

“This shows that the system works on both new and old vehicles from different makes with different axle geometries.

“We also used the tests to put potential customers' minds at rest. For instance, there is almost no increase in exhaust temperature at any time, and for 90% of the test exhaust temperature went down, proving that the gases inside the cylinder are no hotter when using LPG.

“Even more importantly, there was no change to either maximum power or torque, ensuring that the engine and drivetrain are not stressed beyond the manufacturer's intended limits.

“All of this endorses exactly what our customers experience every day – this is a safe, proven and reliable technology that saves real money.”
