Trailer Innovation Award 2009 for JOST

Document Actions
JOST’s new KKS coupling system has been distinguished with the Trailer Innovation Award 2009 in the “Safety” category.
The KKS combines all of the advantages of a fully-automatic connection of truck and trailer. Increased safety, easier handling and faster coupling and decoupling.

The new KKS Comfort Coupling System from JOST is a driver assistance system and easily operate the coupling system. All components can also be operated manually. It is possible that controls and fully automates all functions of the coupling and decoupling process previ-ously performed manually. The KKS eliminates not only manual connection of the fifth wheel couplings, but also manually cranking the landing gears and connecting or separating the spiral cables. This is the first time that an automated interface for pneumatic and electric connections is being used. Operation and remote display are located in the driver cabin for all functions. The jury of international trade journalists and experts from the transport industry gave JOST‘s KKS an especially positive rating for its increased safety in particular. At the 2008 IAA Commercial Vehicles, JOST thus received the Trailer Innovation Award 2009 for this innovation.

The KKS from JOST consists of a sensor coupling with pneumatic unlocking, an automated plug connection between the truck and the trailer, and electrically operated landing gears. The driver can safely to combine either KKS trucks and conventional trailers, or KKS trailers and conven-tional trucks.
