Goldhofer exceeds 100 tonnes
Goldhofer has surpassed the 100 tonne payload barrier on a ten beam axle trailer for the first time, with the launch of its new STZ-H10 beam-axle trailer.
The new model in Goldhofer’s extensive heavy haulage product range will be premiered at the International Motor Show for Commercial Vehicles (IAA) in Hanover on 25 September.
At 40km/h the new Goldhofer STZ-H10 has a gross weight of 151 tonnes with a payload of 121.2 tonnes, whilst at 80km/h the maximum permissible payload is 96.2 tonnes, making it the ideal transport solution for the latest generation of large cranes.
It incorporates 10 axles in total, with axles 1 and 2 being self tracking with hydraulic lift, axles 3 and 4 are fixed with hydraulic lift and the final 6 axles are all hydraulically power steered. The bed length measures 16 m, extending to 24 m by 2.75 m wide, with the trailer built on a hydraulic suspension and offering a high ground clearance. This allows significant advantages in terms of cross-country mobility in comparison to a conventional eight-axle trailer and affords two principal driving heights, allowing it to be operated with a height setting of +/-200 mm on 235/75R 17.5 tyres.
Successful trials conducted by Goldhofer have also demonstrated that the STZ-H10 is very flexible with regards to the type of tractor unit it operates in conjunction with. The hydraulic differential setting of the gooseneck allows the use of 3- and 4- axle tractor units with appropriate 5th wheel loads.
Operators looking to save on weight during transport also have the option of removing the side extensions from the trailer, whilst other in-built features include a Hatz diesel power pack, easy Control Comfort remote steering, hardwood flooring and 30 pairs of lashings.
Ivan Collins, Sales Director of Andover Trailers, the sole distributor of Goldhofer heavy haulage equipment in the UK and Ireland, says: “Goldhofer has raised the bar with the STZ-H10 in terms of user-friendliness through its clearly-arranged central control panel, where all adjustments can be carried out quickly.
“The new ten-axle model not only facilitates in the transport of heavy goods and equipment, but it will also help to deliver savings for heavy haulage specialists across Europe. In many countries transit fees are calculated by axle load, which in turn will mean that transport companies will save money through operating this ten-axle model,” he adds.
The STZ-H10 ten-axle semitrailer will take pride of place on Goldhofer’s stand (C07 in Hall 25) in Hanover, where the company is hoping to add to the 12 individual orders it has already taken for this new product.
