GreenChem Commits to Europe-Wide AdBlue Availability

Document Actions
GreenChem AdBlue Solutions this week chose the IAA Commercial Vehicle Show in Hanover to announce its commitment to supply truck and bus operators with AdBlue wherever in Europe they require it.

GreenChem acknowledges that there are misconceptions across the European truck market amongst truck operators who are sceptical about AdBlue availability for their new SCR-engine trucks. However, it believes that the commitment to GreenChem of truck manufacturers such as DAF Trucks underlines the company’s leading role in to creating maximum AdBlue availability.

Already GreenChem is active in 22 markets in Europe and is planning for 19 production locations (three are on stream now with a further three scheduled to come on line before the end of 2006). GreenChem estimates that it will supply the total European market for AdBlue with 20 million litres in 2006 and reach over 100 million litres in 2007.

"We always recognised that AdBlue availability would be the key issue for the introduction of SCR technology (the choice of most truck and engine makers to achieve both Euro 4 and Euro 5 emissions legislation). But we now have a position where perception is well behind reality”, Teun de Bruijn, GreenChem’s founding Managing Director told CV journalists in Hanover for the Show.

"While the first big numbers of SCR-engined trucks are entering the market now, there is still a misconception about the availability of AdBlue. Availability is still an issue, but the number of trucks in the market does not yet justify a network of thousands of outlets. We will have this number of outlets available within the foreseeable future and our target is to develop availability ahead of market demand when it comes to creating commercial availability.

"For customers requiring their own bulk supplies we have a dealer network of hundreds of oil distributors which has now been extended through the co-operation we have with the dealer networks of several truck producers. Altogether this means that we can now speak about almost 2,000 outlets for home base filling and this represents 75% of the market”, said Mr de Bruijn.

"Wherever they operate, we can supply trucks with AdBlue – its here today and at affordable prices. No truck customer should put off buying new trucks because they are worried about AdBlue supply", he said.

GreenChem’s pioneering Blue Card Network scheme – which goes fully live in November this year and by the end of the year will give access to more than 250 filling points – is addressing the availability issue. GreenChem expects to have over 1,000 filling points in the BlueCard Network by the end of 2007.

GreenChem will shortly (from 1 November) have its own free phone number where guidance can be given about AdBlue supplies. This is mainly to inform customers about availability.
