The Scania R-series: International Truck of the Year 2005 (IToY)

As the first model range to be launched as part of Scania's new truck programme, the R-series comprises a mix of premium quality rigid and articulated truck chassis. On show at Commercial Vehicle Show 2005 will be a flagship long-haul R 500 LA6x2/4MNA twin-steer tractor unit.

P 380 CB8x4MHZ rigid chassis

The 2005 CV Show 2005 will be the first UK showing for the eight-wheeled P 380 CB8x4MHZ, a rigid tipper chassis which now completes Scania's new multi-wheeler line-up. Equipped with a 380 hp, 11-litre six-cylinder Scania DC11-09 engine and a Scania GR900 eight-speed-plus-crawler gearbox, the display chassis has a CP16 day cab, which is 280mm longer than its 4-series predecessor.

P 380 LA4x2MNA tractor unit

Completing the Scania display at the Show is this P-cabbed 4x2 tractor unit. The P 380 LA4x2MNA is fitted with an 11-litre Scania DC11-09 engine which develops 380 hp and 1,800Nm torque. Transmission to the truck's Scania ADA1100 11.500kg rear-axle is via a Scania GRS900 14-speed gearbox.

Scania is also taking a second stand at Commercial Vehicle Show 2005 in the Skills Centre to promote career opportunities within Scania and its dealer network nationwide.
