APC Overnight’s depot conveyors speed parcel handling

Document Actions
APC Overnight is benefitting from streamlined local parcel operations after its Brighouse depot boosted performance by 20 per cent with a new conveyor-based parcel processing system.
One of the 120-strong network of APC depots, APC Pass the Parcel is the holder of a much coveted APC Overnight exemplary delivery award. Based around a bespoke conveyor, the system is reducing freight handling and speeding up the transfer process, which is also saving operating costs through improved use of resources.

The new system complements the benefits of the APC Overnight online booking system, which uses NetDespatch web services. Together, these high-tech systems are helping the depot to maintain momentum with winning new business for late afternoon parcel collections that are essential to customers who trade over the Internet.

With an increasing number of companies in the Huddersfield area using the web as a sales vehicle to gain customers nationwide, APC Pass the Parcel Overnight is providing the access point to the national APC Overnight network. This enables local businesses provide safe and reliable UK-wide next day delivery to their customers.

“This investment in new conveyor-based parcel processing technology is in response to the increasing number of online bookings we take for next day delivery. With the growth in Internet sales for our customers it is essential that we supply them with a rapid response service. We see our role as an extension of their business and we are pleased that they make use of the APC Overnight network via our depot. It is also part of our vision for continual investment in the business to secure its long term future,” says Jeremy Sutcliffe, MD, APC Pass the Parcel Overnight.
