NETV Cushions the Ride for TMNE
North East Truck & Van (NETV) is in the process of delivering 10 new Iveco Eurocargos to Traffic Management (North East) Limited (TMNE).
The new order comprises eight 18 tonne and two 7.5 tonne Eurocargos which will be used exclusively to provide temporary traffic management services, with all of the 18 tonne models designed to act as impact protection vehicles and fitted with rear crash-cushions and a vertical lift lighting arrow, allowing full utilisation of the vehicle load space. Bodywork across both 18 and 7.5 tonne models varies and includes dropsides with cone distribution wells forward of the rear axle and dropsides with tail-lifts.
The vehicles join a 32-strong fleet and have been supplied with a five year repair and maintainance contract which will see the majority of all servicing carried out at NETV's northernmost dealership in Blaydon.
Commenting on the new delivery, Mark Davison, Managing Director of TMNE explains: "The nature of motorways and traffic management means our work places a significant strain on the vehicle's electrical system due to the requirement to run front and rear beacons, together with large illuminated direction arrows. As a result, we asked NETV to order all of our new vehicles with up-rated batteries and alternators which are fitted on the factory line."
"The three key factors for TMNE in selecting new vehicles for our fleet are reliability, fuel consumption and the strength of the manufacturer's aftersales support network. The Eurocargo is a proven workhorse in the fleet sector, and through NETV we are well looked after from the initial vehicle specification stage throughout the truck's life.
"The nature of our business means we have to be 'ready to go' at a moment's notice and it is therefore imperitive to work with a dealer such as NETV which can meet our stringent maintenance schedule," he adds.
Each of the new vehicles is expected to cover between 40,000 and 50,000 km a year, operating from the company's network of depots which span the North East, North West and South of the country. Vehicles will typically be in operation five nights a week, but this can increase to 24 hours a day when supporting major contracts.
