RHA Welcomes DfT Decision on Working Time

Document Actions
The Road Haulage Association has welcomed the Department for Transport's decision not to make any changes to the Road Transport (Working Time) Regulations 2005.
This follows the recent review which confirmed that most employers and drivers are in compliance and that average weekly working hours for drivers continues to reduce.

The Association also welcomes the DfT decision to significantly improve enforcement, guidance, awareness and understanding of the Regulations. This will ensure greater compliance and further enhance protection for drivers.

Commenting, Ruth Pott, RHA’s Director of Employment Affairs, and member of the DfT review team, said: “We always thought the end result of this comprehensive review of the Regulations would conclude no change was necessary because little evidence could be found to confirm widespread avoidance. Operators now have the assurance of stability in working practices; a situation that is long overdue.”
