Welsh haulier TWT Logistics buys Andover-based Switch Transport to cover South of England

Pall-Ex Welsh member TWT Logistics has acquired founder Palletways member Switch International, extending its geographical coverage from South Wales to Southern England.

Switch was appointed a postcode region of responsibility by Pall-Ex which operates from Andover, Hampshire covering the surrounding postcodes for Pall-Ex and offering specialist services to both the Channel Islands and the Isle of Wight.

Founded in 1980, TWT Logistics is based in South Wales with its headquarters near Caerphilly in Mid-Glamorgan. TWT is one of the fastest growing members in the Pall-Ex network, now operating over 100 vehicles and 200 trailers across the group. The acquisition of Switch has extended the wide range of logistics services which can be provided, including international Groupage, freight forwarding and the specialist transportation of hazardous freight.

Switch International has developed an excellent reputation over 25 years for delivering innovation, quality and value to its customers. Specialising in pallet freight distribution throughout the UK and Europe, the range of services and quality culture have proven a perfect match with TWT.

Trevor Taylor, Managing Director of The TWT Logistics Group said of the acquisition: "We have seen unprecedented growth over the last four years and needed to expand our area of operation. Switch International was an ideal fit in terms of its service provision and quality culture and the geographical location is an added bonus. We look forward to working together as part of the Pall-Ex network."

For Switch, the rationale for becoming part of the Pall-Ex network is in bringing new impetus to the business. TWT plans to develop the business further with the addition of a purpose-built transport terminal with warehousing facilities in the Andover area. The vehicle fleet has already been expanded to accommodate the extended Pall-Ex territory and the computerisation of all aspects of the operation is already at an advanced stage.

Steve Barlow, of Switch International said: "Becoming part of TWT is a new challenge for us, but I have a great team of people and we are all looking forward to the potential for growth and success that being part of the Pall-Ex network will bring."

Pall-Ex Managing Director, Hilary Devey, said: "Pall-Ex will be giving every support to this merger and we look forward to welcoming the experience and quality that Switch will bring into our network."
