Amtrak's New International Services Go Online

Document Actions
At the end of March, Amtrak Express Parcels is launching a new range of international express services which can be booked and tracked via the web.

Amtrak customers will be able to arrange shipments through Amtrak's existing web booking service that is already in place for domestic deliveries and collections.

Shipments can be booked and labels printed in the same way, giving a single point system that prepares all shipments, both domestic and international, for collection.

The Amtrak services are underpinned by NetDespatch web services that eliminate paperwork and provide online tracking.

The service is available from any internet connected computer, anywhere in the world, allowing international agents and customers to manage and track their shipments.

The online booking system captures all the special information required for international deliveries and it automatically generates pro-forma and commercial invoices.

Amtrak international services are available simply as a menu item on the existing online despatch system so there is no need for a separate system or login.

"By using the web, booking and managing international services has become a lot easier and a lot less time consuming.

"We now have a single point for booking all types of deliveries online.

"It eliminates laborious paperwork and gives suppliers, agents and their customers 24 hour visibility of their overseas shipments," says Jonathan Smith, Managing Director of Amtrak Express Parcels.

The new services include International Worldwide Air and European Road Parcels, which both incorporate services for documents, parcels and freight.

There is also a Global Response service that covers International Sameday, On-board Courier, International Mail and Sea Freight.
