Lubefreight has Safety at Heart
The awards champion best practice in health, safety, security and environmental standards are open to everyone connected with Shell Marine Products global operations worldwide from employees and contractors, to distributors.
When transporting lubricants, safety is of paramount importance and the awards take into consideration at all levels from issues such as vehicle design, to staff motivation and attitude.
The Stanlow based transporter of bulk lubricants is different in that the drivers became share holders five years ago and with this took on a different attitude to all aspects of the business from improving efficiencies to enhancing safety. Procedures have been modified through their own initiative and staff are empowered to assess situations and advise of any potential risks.
These proactive measures and the introduction of simple procedures and systems, many of which have been introduced by the drivers themselves, ensures that everyone is working towards a safer working environment.
"Our success is based on putting health and safety at the core of our organisation. We have made sure that it is an essential part of our culture and the responsibility of all employees to make sure that high levels are maintained. They all realise that if standards fall it not only impacts on our profitability, but our reputation as well," stated Carl Williams, Contract Manager, Lubefreight.
"Shell Marine Products has exceptionally high HSSE standards," continues Carl, "and our successful relationship is down to working in partnership with them and constantly looking to implement new and innovative ideas that lead to a safer operation."
This is the third major award won by Lubefreight in recent times following the back-to-back Motor Transport Awards in 2003 and 2004.
