IRHA Plans East Link Toll Bridge Protest
Motorists using the East-Link toll bridge on Wednesday morning have been warned to expect possible disruption due to the rush-hour protest.
The bridge links the south-bank quay, which is a major container-handling port, with the rest of Dublin Port.
The IRHA says its members should not have to pay a toll to cross from the south-bank quay in order to get access to the Port Tunnel.
The association also says the Department of Transport promised to lift the toll, but this had not been included in the HGV management strategy drawn up to coincide with the opening of the Port Tunnel.
Meanwhile in a separate development, National Toll Roads, which operates the East and West Link bridges, waste management and broadband businesses, has reported a 7% increase in toll revenue to just under €50m for the 12 months to the end of December 2005.
