Speeding BLB in Anorak Wearing Shocker
Calling all anoraks! The ultimate collection of old CM truck pictures thanks to Chris Hodge
A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away Commercial Motor's ancient picture archives were sitting in a warehouse in South London quietly fading away---when quality used truck supremo Chris Hodge range me up and said: "How about letting us create an electronic gallery of all those CM pictures on our website?" Fair enoughski I replied and promptly handed the whole project over David Riley who's CH's 'webmeister' and guardian of the antiquities. Much to my great delight they've done a magnificent job of converting the old glass plate negatives into digital images like this fabulous Atkinson 6x6 middle east spec export tractor pictured above which they've now saved for posterity. Talk about an anorak heaven. And long overdue for a plug on BLB.
As David says: "The picture of the Dodge Barreiros that appeared in your recent blog put me in mind of the subject of old truck photos. There are those of us who take it very seriously and can identify a Mk I from a Mk Ia by a quick look at a picture of the truck's back axle and there are those who sneer at this. But be honest you steerers, if you've been in this game for a number of years don't you get dewy eyed at the sight of the wagon you started your driving on? Or at least shudder to think that you put up with it."
Fortunately thanks to David's efforts and the Chris Hodge Commercial web site CM's collection of truck pictures has been tastefully 'exhumed' and he assures me there's little sign of us running out of material yet. The pictures go back to around 1906, and although I doubt whether there's anyone still around who started on one of those early wagons, your very own favourite is going to be on the site somewhere. So what are you waiting for? Visit http://chrishodgetrucks.co.uk and then click on Truck Archive pictures. But be prepared to spend a few hours at it - it's truly addictive.
Meanwhile, this is either a picture of a very big truck...or a very small van in a very small van!
Been caught speeding? No sweat! Biglorryblog has depressing news on how to beat the rap.
Never get another speeding ticket! Far be it from me to offer advice on how you might beat a speeding rap-especially if you deserve it--but apparently there's a new report out which tells you how you can legally beat the system and get your speeding fines and even parking tickets cancelled. Interested? I thought you might be.
Released by publishers Global Guidebook (www.globalguidebook.net) it's said to reveal "astonishing and genuine methods of how to avoid all speeding tickets and penalties." According to the press blurb they've sent me: "Every day thousands of drivers in Britain quietly travel on the roads without any fear whatsoever of speed cameras. They know that even if a speed camera flashes at their vehicle, they will not get the current penalty of 3 points on their licence and a £60 fines. Now you can do the same and completely legally."
It goes on to say "The Global Guidebook's Speed Camera Report explains in detail a total of 7 different ways to avoid getting speeding tickets from a speed camera." Apparently one key factor in avoiding speeding tickets is to slow the process down and the report shows clearly, step by step how to do it and to ensure that no fine or penalty is imposed. Like those wonderful compilation albums of yesteryear from Ronco, you can't buy The Global Guidebook Speed Camera Report in the shops---but you can purchase it directly from the publishers at just £27.50. Customers ordering will also receive a FREE copy of the company's Parking Ticket Report. Call 01243 776388 or e-mail: sales@globalguidebook.net
And do you know what's depressing? This blog will probably have more hits than anything else. Sigh…
(Meanwhile Biglorrryblog refuses to take responsibility in any way whatsoever for the accuracy of the statements made in the above blog by Global Guide Books, nor for any fines imposed on anyone who has followed the advice within the above mentioned guide, etc, etc---or in the words of Mr Mouse: "Terms and conditions apply yadda, yadda yadda...")
